The Limberlost Challenge Saturday July 8, 2017 Near Huntsville
Picture yourself running through pristine lakes and forests, wildlife abounding, on gently technical single track trails. A trail lover's race, come out and enjoy the scenery and a savoury lunch. Don't expect to tear up the trails at Limberlost, as the terrain is continuously changing pitch and direction. Although Limberlost requires considerable effort, the rewards make that effort worthwhile. You have a choice of 14K (not in the OUTRace series), 28K (OTS) and 56K (OUS). Come join the fun.
Sri Chinmoy Ultras Ottawa Saturday July 29, 2017 Ottawa
The Ottawa ultras race is comprised of several distances and timed races, run on a 400 meter track. Pick from 6, 12 or 24 hour races, or marathon (not part of OUTRace), 50K, 100K, 200K, 50M (mile) or 100M. Note that you must complete more than a marathon in the timed events, to be included in the Ultra Series. Similar to Kingston, this race has many personal touches, with manual timers counting your laps. This unique venue attracts elite runners, who are attempting to set personal or national bests.
Iroquoia Trail Test Saturday August 19, 2017 Burlington
Iroquoia is a technical trail runner's dream course. It offers 7K, 18K and 34K (OTS) distances. Be prepared to fully utilise your navigational and technical trail running skills at this race. The 34K distance has been favourably compared to the effort of running a marathon and many use it as a serious test, to see if they are ready for the marathon distance. With decent leaf cover, Iroquoia is a good race on a hot day.
Haliburton Forest Trail Run Saturday September 9, 2017 Haliburton
Offering a course in the heart of a 65,000 acre forest, Haliburton has a fine mix of surfaces from gentle rolling hills on dirt roads, to technical trail. Distances include 12K, 26K (OTS), 50 and 100 mile (OUS) and a 100 mile relay. The course is a 40K out and back (twice for the 100 mile), so you need to pay attention to your hydration and nutrition. Weather can vary at Haliburton, so be careful with your fashion statement. Come out and enjoy the last series race of the summer!
Horror Trail Race Saturday October 28, 2017 Waterloo
Horror Trail is a very social race, open to humans and zombies alike. The course is a 2.5K loop on moderately technical trail. Short enough that you need not worry about hydration and nutrition mistakes, but long enough not to become overly repetitive. It offers a 5K, 10K, 25K (OTS), 50K (OUS) and a 6 hour option (you must run more than 42.2K to be included in the OUS). Many set a post-mortem PB at this race!
The Fat Ass Trail Run Sunday November 12 Batawa
Note this race takes place on a Sunday! FATR is new to the OUTRace series, but sells out, so hop on the registrant list early. The OUTRace Series starts by running up and down ski hills, so why not end with a bang, at the Batawa Ski hills? FATR offers a 4K, 7.5K, 10K, 17.5K, 25K (OTS), 50K (OUS) and the “Bad Ass” 6 hour (you must run more than 42.2K to be included in the OUS). FATR also hosts the OUTRace series awards, so stick around after your run and applaud these inspiring athletes.
OUTRace Film Festival Saturday December 2, 2017 Toronto
Although you won't receive any points for watching the films, plan to round out your racing season by watching films featuring some of the finest athletes and destination races around the world. There will be refreshments, spot prizes and a chance to chat with fellow runners in a relaxed environment.
