Andrea Seccafien breaks Canadian half-marathon record
Women making a habit of rewriting the record book recently
The setting was Marugame, Japan. The race, the Kagawa Marugam International Half Marathon. Although she took 2019 off of running the half-marathon, runner Andrea Seccafien had a huge day finishing with a time of 1:09:23 to break the Canadian women's record.
Yes, the same half-marathon that Natasha Wodak broke a couple of weeks ago in Houston. And, yes, the same record Rae Cliff broke in December.
Wodak finished 17th in the Houston Half Marathon becoming the first Canadian woman to run under 1:10 when she finished with a time of 1:09:41 breaking Cliff's record of 1:10:06.
On social media, Seccafien and Wodak joked about when they could get together and break the 69-minute mark, with Wodak throwing out the idea of March in Poland — at the World Athletics Half Marathon Championship in Gdynia. Stay tuned. These runners are just getting started.
