The Terry Fox Foundation, in collaboration with renowned Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, has unveiled its annual limited-edition shirt for 2024. This year’s shirt bears the slogan #NoMatterWhat, paying homage to Terry Fox’s unwavering determination during his historic Marathon of Hope in 1980.
Ryan Reynolds expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the personal significance of the Terry Fox Run to him as a Vancouverite. He lauded Terry’s resilience as a continuing source of inspiration for himself and countless Canadians.
“As a Vancouverite, the Terry Fox Run has held a special place in my heart and I’m thrilled to once again partner with the Terry Fox Foundation to help launch this year’s shirt in support of this important cause,” says Reynolds. “I know the strength and perseverance Terry demonstrated continues to serve as an inspiration to me and millions of Canadians.”
Available for purchase starting today on the Terry Fox Foundation website, the limited-edition shirts aim to commemorate Terry’s enduring strength, courage, and perseverance. Produced by adidas, the shirts come in various sizes and styles, priced at $25 for short sleeves, $35 for long sleeves, and $40 for performance tees.
Denise Dias, VP of marketing and communications for the Foundation, highlighted Terry’s enduring legacy, noting the annual participation of nearly four million people in the Terry Fox Run worldwide. She referenced last year’s remarkable response to the #DearTerry campaign, which resulted in a record-breaking fundraising year for the foundation.
“Terry’s story and impact on cancer research continues to inspire Canadians across the globe with nearly four million people taking part in the Terry Fox Run each year,” says Dias. “Last year’s unprecedented response to our #DearTerry campaign resulted in a record-breaking year for the Terry Fox Run.”
Registration for the 2024 run, scheduled for September 15, 2024, will open on April 12, coinciding with the anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope.
Despite advancements in cancer research and treatment over the past four decades, cancer remains the leading cause of death in Canada, with an estimated two in five individuals expected to receive a diagnosis in their lifetime.
The Foundation is committed to honoring Terry’s legacy by raising critical funds for cancer research. Through its extensive network of volunteers and fundraising events, the foundation engages millions of Canadians annually in support of this vital cause.
