The Frightening 5K and Terrifying 10K Halloween Races is back on Oct. 26 at the beautiful Discovery Centre on Hamilton’s waterfront, and it promises to be frightfully fun for all ages and abilities. Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or a casual jogger looking for a spooky good time, this event looks like a perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit.
Costumes, Candy, and Creepy Medals
What’s Halloween without a costume? Grab your wildest, wackiest, or most wicked outfit and join in the fun! This family-friendly event encourages participants to run in costume, adding to the magical atmosphere. Picture it now: a sea of vampires, zombies, and superheroes, all racing toward the finish line—talk about a surreal sight!
And speaking of the finish line, every runner who completes the 5K or 10K will be treated to a truly unique finishing medal. What makes it stand out? Oh, just the fact that it comes with a spooky voice box inside—perfect for getting those Halloween chills post-race.
For those participating in the 1K Spooky Fun Run, don’t worry—you’ll still score a hauntingly cool medal to show off your ghostly accomplishments.
Halloween Race for a Cause
Aside from having a blast, the Halloween 5K & 10K also supports two vital causes: McMaster Children’s Hospital and Hamilton Food Share. These organizations do tremendous work to support the community. By participating in the race, you’re not just running—you’re giving back to those in need. Donations from this event help fund critical health care services for vulnerable children and provide food for families facing hunger in Hamilton. You can also bring non-perishable food items to the event to further help those in need!
