Since its debut in 1985, The North Face’s Mountain Jacket has become a symbol of outdoor innovation and style. Originally designed to protect climbers and skiers from harsh conditions, the jacket has evolved into a versatile piece that seamlessly blends rugged performance with streetwear influence. In celebration of its 40th anniversary, The North Face is launching a new collection that pays homage to its legacy while incorporating the latest in technology and sustainability.
The original Mountain Jacket was created with a singular purpose: to shield adventurers from extreme weather. Over the years, the jacket has incorporated cutting-edge materials like GORE-TEX®, FUTURELIGHT™, and now, for 2025, DRYVENT™ Mono. From its alpine roots to its role as a cultural icon, the jacket’s timeless design has remained relevant across generations.
“Just like music, it’s just as important to me to express myself through fashion and the clothes I wear,” said Griff, the BRIT Award-winning pop artist who fronts the 40th-anniversary campaign. “Having the opportunity to work with an iconic brand like The North Face and being a part of the global campaign for the 40th anniversary of the Mountain Jacket has been amazing.” Griff’s connection to the jacket reflects her personal commitment to creative self-expression, a value that aligns with The North Face’s legacy of innovation.

The campaign also features The North Face athletes Blake Paul, a snowboarder, and Dennis Ranalter, a freeride skier, who continue to embody the adventurous spirit that the Mountain Jacket represents.
The 2025 collection includes pieces designed for both performance and sustainability. The Mountain Jacket DRYVENT™ Mono, priced at $339.99 for women and $369.99 for men, is made from 100% recycled 2L DRYVENT™ fabric, offering waterproof protection in a streamlined design. For those seeking alpine performance, the Mountain Jacket GORE-TEX®, priced at $599.99, features advanced waterproofing, ventilation, and alpine-specific pockets.
Key design features of the collection include fully seam-sealed construction, adjustable hems and cuffs, alpine-style pockets, and zip-in compatibility with The North Face’s Retro Denali Jacket. The collection also includes the Re-Grind Mountain Jacket and 40th Anniversary apparel, offering a mix of style and functionality for both urban and outdoor environments.
