After four years in Toronto’s competitive running market the Famous Canadian Beer Run & Festival has established itself as an end-of-summer tradition for thousands of area runners. A fun 5-kilometre run followed by a craft beer and food truck festival, the mid-September event draws both runners and walkers who share a love of beer (and a good time!).

Billed as a scenic end-of-summer event, the Famous Canadian Beer Run’s closed-to-traffic course through Ontario Place offers stunning views of the city skyline and Lake Ontario, providing participants with “selfie spots” along the way to memorialize the day. Since 2017 the route has included a section of the William G. Davis Trail through Trillium Park – Ontario Place’s impressive new greenspace. Nostalgia seekers will appreciate running by the unique Cinesphere structure, by the old waterpark and through a man-made tunnel near the former log ride.

Upon completion, participants are bestowed with a custom beer stein (in lieu of a medal) and finish right into the heart of a craft beer and food truck festival. Four tear-off beverage tokens on the bottom of the race bib can be turned in for up to four beverage samples from any of the beer, cider or vodka cocktail vendors (additional tokens can be purchased throughout the day at a cost of $3 each). Craft brewers from across Ontario (like Beaus Brewery, Side Launch Brewing Company and Eastbound Brewing Co. – to name just a few) make up the bulk of the post-run offerings, in addition to cider and vodka cocktails.

An array of award-winning food trucks are also on-site to satisfy the palate of every hungry runner. Mouth-watering delicacies like duck confit tacos (Heirloom Toronto) and Dulce de Leche empanadas (Mas Viento) are served up alongside traditional favourites like British hand pies (The Pie Commission) and Philly cheese steak sandwiches (Big Dave’s). Traditional post-race fare is available free of charge to all participants.

The Festival opens at 11 a.m. and runs all afternoon long with live music, vendors and access for spectators and friends with a Festival Only pass ($25). Sip from the comfort of a Muskoka chair overlooking the water or party in the heart of the action at the main stage.
Registration for the run is now open. The 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. wave starts are already sold out. Space is available in the 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. starts. Early bird pricing of just $65 is in effect until August 1 and you can save an additional $5 by registering using the discount code GOT at checkout.
