Sinister 7 Ultra adds 50-mile option for 2020 race

One of the most legendary races on the Canadian ultra calendar, Sinister 7, has announced a new 50-mile option for the 2020 event.

“After years of soul-searching and requests from racers, we are introducing a 50-mile option for soloists,” race organizers stated via Facebook on Oct. 2. “It's actually more like 51.5-miles, but this is an Ultra so you'll have to suck it up and do the extra 1.5. We've had people asking for years to let them solo just part of the course, and it's time to make it happen. Don't think of this as easier; it's hard but shorter.”

Although full course details will be released later this month, the new option will begin at west Coleman and follow the rest of the course beginning after “the big up and down on Saddle Mountain.”

The 50-mile race will begin at 1 p.m.

“This later start time will allow us to sync you up with the rest of the racers. We considered starting it earlier, but that would require about 60 more volunteers. Besides, this way you will get to run at night unless you're super fast. The fee will be the same as an individual relay runner entry.”

Sinister 7 also announced the introduction of a “mini-triple” for those who do the short distance at each of their three ultras: Sinister 7, Black Spur and the Canadian Death Race.
