Spring in Muskoka brings a special kind of magic as migratory birds return to the region’s forests, wetlands, and shorelines. This year, birdwatchers—whether seasoned or just starting out—have a unique opportunity to explore this natural spectacle through Nature Takes Flight: Birding in Muskoka, a new guided event series running from April 12 to May 10.
With 20 guided birding experiences across Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Muskoka Lakes, Bracebridge, Georgian Bay, and Lake of Bays, participants will be able to observe a wide variety of bird species in different habitats. Led by experienced naturalists, these excursions provide insight into bird behaviour, migration patterns, and the best ways to spot and identify different species.
“Muskoka is an incredible destination for birding, with its mix of forests, wetlands, and diverse landscapes providing a habitat for countless species,” says Dale Wenger, expert birder and local guide. “Spring is the perfect time to experience the magic of migration, and we’re excited to help visitors connect with nature in a meaningful way.”
Each event costs $10 per person and offers a different focus, depending on location. Some excursions will highlight songbirds in wooded areas, while others may explore shorebirds and waterfowl in wetland environments. The variety makes it easy for both beginners and experienced birders to find an outing suited to their interests.
