Burlington Canada Day 5K

On Sunday, June 30, Burlington’s picturesque Spencer Smith Park will be the venue for the Canada Day 5K. This event promises to be a vibrant celebration, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities. The race kicks off at 9:00 AM EDT, and runners will enjoy a scenic route that begins and ends at the East Lawn, near the pier. The Canada Day 5K is designed to be inclusive, with special discounts for seniors (65 and over) and youth (16 and under), who save $10 on registration fees. Additionally, anyone who registers for three or more VR Pro races in 2024 simultaneously will receive a 30% discount on each event.

Participants will receive a race kit that includes a Canada Day celebration tank top, available in both men’s and women’s sizes. A unique finisher medal, which opens up to reveal a special Canada Day celebration bracelet, adds an extra touch of festivity. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age category, segmented into five-year increments.

The event relies on the support of volunteers, who help ensure everything runs smoothly. Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up on the event website.

Hamilton’s Canada Day Races

The celebrations continue the following day in Hamilton on Monday, July 1. Presented by Mercedes Benz Burlington, this event takes place at Edgewater Pavilion in Confederation Beach Park. The Hamilton races include a 5K, 10K, and Kids 1K, starting at 8:30 AM EDT with the Kids 1K, followed by the 5K and 10K races at 9:00 AM. This event is particularly special as it raises funds for McMaster Children’s Hospital, with proceeds from the Kids 1K directly supporting this worthy cause.

Participants in Hamilton will also receive a Canada Day celebration tank top and a unique finisher medal with a removable maple leaf bracelet. The race kit pickup is available on Friday, June 28th, and Saturday, June 29th, at the Stoney Creek Running Room Store, as well as on race day at Edgewater Pavilion.

Parking for the Hamilton event is available within Confederation Beach Park, though participants are advised to arrive early to find parking, pick up their kits, and prepare for the race. Strollers are permitted in the race, though dogs are not allowed.

Both Burlington and Hamilton races will proceed rain or shine, with cancellations only in extreme weather conditions. Any necessary changes will be communicated via email and posted on the event page.

Celebrate with Community and Music

Adding to the festive atmosphere, award-winning rock and alternative country artist Anthony Tullo will perform live at the Hamilton Canada Day Races.
