Set in the picturesque town of Invermere, Loop the Lake offers more than just a race—it provides an immersive experience in the heart of the Columbia Valley. Nestled between the majestic Rocky and Purcell mountain ranges and alongside the expansive Windermere Lake, the event takes full advantage of the stunning natural landscape.
The new Westside Trail paved pathways allow runners to traverse above the lake, offering panoramic views that make the race truly special.

Whether you’re competing for a podium finish, enjoying a leisurely walk, or pushing a stroller, everyone is part of the fun. Supporting a Worthy Cause
This year, Loop the Lake is proud to partner with the Columbia Valley Food Bank. The food bank plays a crucial role in supporting individuals and families in need within the community. Proceeds from the race will benefit this vital organization, reinforcing the event’s commitment to giving back.
“The Columbia Valley Food Bank provides needed support for individuals and families whose current needs are not being met by society,” Carrick adds. “Loop the Lake has always had a local, charitable focus, and the Columbia Valley Food Bank plays an essential role in our local community. This year, proceeds from the race will benefit this worthy organization.”
Course Highlights
All three race courses—the Half Marathon, 10KM, and 5KM—take advantage of the scenic Westside Trail pathway, which offers stunning views above Lake Windermere. The 10KM and 5KM courses are relatively flat, making them accessible to runners of all skill levels. The Half Marathon, on the other hand, features a more challenging route with winding paths along the roadway above the lake. Half Marathon participants are rewarded with a beautiful, locally-made wooden finisher medal, a token of their achievement and a memento of the day’s journey.
