Who would have imagined camping in Ontario could be so enchanting as an Oasis pod? Nestled within one of the province’s parks are the Ôasis camping pods at Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site, which are described by Parks Canada as “curious, comfortable, and out of this world.” With their sleek, raindrop-shaped design, these pods are officially the coolest way to experience camping.
Tucked away at Lock 9 – Meyers and Lock 10 – Hagues Reach, these unique camping pods offer an immersive outdoor experience. Despite their compact size of six square meters, they can comfortably accommodate a family of four. Equipped with a sofa bed on the main level and a hammock loft above, these cozy pods make the most of their space. Perched on stilts, each pod reservation includes a private dining table and barbecue underneath, perfect for enjoying meals al fresco.
While the pods lack electricity, plumbing, or running water, they provide essential amenities like a battery-powered light, food locker, and fire pit. Positioned right by the waterway, they offer stunning views of passing boats, making them ideal for water enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
Part of a larger project initiated in 2018, these Ôasis pods can also be found in parks across the country, including Forillon National Park in Quebec, Kouchibouguac National Park, Fundy National Park in New Brunswick, Kejimkujik National Park in Nova Scotia, and Terra Nova National Park in Newfoundland.
With the campgrounds set to open on May 17, securing a reservation for these coveted pods will be a challenge. Priced at $133.25 per night, bookings can be made online through Parks Canada.
