Georgina Spring Fling Returns This Weekend—Bigger, Better, and Boston-Qualifying

Runners from across the region will descend on Lake Simcoe’s scenic shoreline this Sunday, May 4, for the fourth annual Georgina Spring Fling Marathon & Half-Marathon, including 10K and 5K races. This increasingly popular early-season race, organized by Endurance Event Productions, kicks off at 7:30 a.m. from De La Salle Park and is expected to draw more than 1,300 participants.

“This race has become popular as an early-season Boston qualifier,” says Cindy Lewis-Caballero, co-race director and co-founder of Endurance Event Productions. “We’ve adjusted the start and finish line to accommodate the number of athletes on the course.”

A Scenic and Certified Challenge

The biggest field of the day will be in the half-marathon, with more than 600 runners tackling the 21.1-kilometre out-and-back route along picturesque Lake Drive. Known for its fast, flat terrain and stunning lakeside views, the course is professionally measured and certified by Athletics Ontario, making it ideal for those chasing personal bests or Boston qualifying times.

The marathon, half-marathon, and 10K courses all hold official certification, reinforcing the Spring Fling’s growing reputation as a high-quality and competitive race weekend.

Festival Vibes Meet Finish Line Triumphs

Beyond the finish line, runners and supporters can enjoy a lively post-race celebration in De La Salle Park, headlined by local favourites Fat Cat Jamboree. Adding to the community spirit, Dan Pollard of 93.7 K-Country will return for a live broadcast from the park, bringing additional excitement to the day.

“This year we are putting the focus on the post-race celebration,” says Sandie Orlando, co-race director and multisport coach. “It’s a chance for runners to relax and soak in the achievement.”

Recovery & Refreshments

Athletes can recharge with coffee from The Wandering Bean, refreshments from Athletic Brewing and Costco, and on-course hydration courtesy of Gatorade. For recovery, Cool Dip Recovery and Platinum Massage of Keswick will be on-site offering services to help runners bounce back faster.

Community Support & Sold-Out Accommodations

Race kit pickup will take place the day before the event at The Briars Resort & Spa, a longtime supporter of the Spring Fling. With accommodations sold out at The Briars, Ramada Inn, and Jackson’s Point Retreat and Conference Centre, it’s clear the event continues to draw a loyal and growing following.

The Town of Georgina has remained a strong partner in supporting spring and fall races organized by Endurance Event Productions, helping position the community as a key destination for Ontario’s endurance athletes.

Looking Ahead

Following the Spring Fling, Endurance Event Productions is set to debut the Kawartha Sun Run in Fenelon Falls on June 22, while the Georgina Marathon & Half-Marathon returns September 7, and the Nutrience Oakville 21.1 Half-Marathon caps off the season on October 5.

Volunteers are still welcome to help support this weekend’s race. For more information or to get involved, visit enduranceeventproductions.com.
