Mt. Norquay, a ski resort in Banff National Park, is making a bold statement in response to upcoming U.S. tariffs by offering an 84% discount on lift tickets for one day only. On April 2, the day the tariffs take effect, skiers and snowboarders can purchase lift tickets for just $18.67—significantly lower than the regular $118 price. The discounted rate is a nod to Canada’s founding year, 1867.
The event, called “Canadian Proud Ski Day,” is intended as a celebration of national pride and the resort’s deep Canadian roots. While Mt. Norquay, already an affordable ski resort for the Canadian Rockies, has not explicitly tied the promotion to the new tariffs, the timing suggests a strong connection. The resort is encouraging visitors to wear red and white and turn the slopes into a “blizzard of Canadian Spirit.”
Beyond the discounted tickets, Canadian Proud Ski Day is expected to generate excitement among skiers and snowboarders eager to show their support.
With such a steep discount, demand for tickets is expected to be high, and those looking to take advantage of the deal should plan ahead. Here is the link for tickets.
