Embrace the Challenge and Community Spirit at the 2024 Ottawa Fire Truck Pull

The Ottawa Fire Truck Pull is gearing up for an exhilarating 2024 edition. Scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, the event will see teams of 10 converging on Lansdowne Park’s Aberdeen Plaza, all ready to showcase their strength and endurance by pulling a 10+ tonne Ottawa Fire Services fire truck a full 100 feet.

Participants from diverse backgrounds will come together to compete, each team striving to pull the truck the fastest, raise the most money for a worthy cause, or demonstrate unparalleled team spirit. One of the most anticipated events is the Shawn Mathieson First Responder Challenge, a serious athletic competition among firefighters, police officers, and paramedics. This challenge, driven by the legendary Team Shrek – a group of firefighters known for their teamwork and numerous accolades – pits these everyday heroes against each other in a thrilling race to pull the 10+ tonne truck. This challenge isn’t just for seasoned professionals; trainees and any team with at least 50 per cent first responders are welcome to join.

This year, several new divisions are being introduced to add even more excitement. The Armed Forces Challenge invites teams from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, including those in training, provided they have at least 50 per cent military members. The Coast to Coast Open Challenge will bring together teams from across Canada, each vying to be the fastest in the nation. Meanwhile, the Beast Mode Invitational Challenge will see winning teams from other fire truck pull events facing off in a high-stakes showdown. The climax of the day will be a final pull-off between the winners of each division, determining who will earn the ultimate bragging rights as the best of the best in Canada.

For those who might not be keen on pulling a fire truck, the event promises plenty of entertainment and activities. Past years have featured appearances by the Bytowne Fire Brigade, the 501st Legion, balloon artists, face painting, and caricatures. Announcements for this year’s attractions will be made throughout the summer.

All proceeds from the event will support Epilepsy Ottawa, an agency dedicated to improving the quality of life for the 10,000 people living with epilepsy and their loved ones in the area.

Presented by ODBF in collaboration with Ottawa Fire Services, the Ottawa Fire Truck Pull promises to be a day of challenges, delight, and support for a great cause.
