Oakville is getting a new running event from the Georgina Marathon team

October 25, 2023 | 7:53 am

There is a new running event in Southern Ontario and it’s from the fantastic team behind the popular Georgina Marathon and Georgina Spring Fling. The Oakville 21.1, a half-marathon, 10k and 5k is scheduled for Sept. 29, 2024 in, yes, Oakville.

The race offers a beautiful lakeside route and is suitable for both competitive runners and families seeking an active day out.

Oakville’s location in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) makes it easily accessible by vehicle or public transit. A shuttle service will connect the Bronte Go Station with the race venue at Shell Park.

Cindy Lewis-Caballero of Endurance Event Productions said the Oakville 21.1 will use the same course as a previous event in the area at the request of the town.

“It’s beautiful there. It’s close to the GTA and easy for people to get to you,” she adds. “All three of our events are fast and flat and scenic along a waterfront.”

Endurance Event Productions, run by Cindy and Sandie Orlando, aims to create professional yet enjoyable events. Their commitment to making running fun is evident through features like music on the course, and the occasional giant running alligator.

This should be a good one. Registration for the Oakville 21.1 Half Marathon opens on Dec. 1.
